Waffen SS Wiking Division Soldbuch, Citation & Pap

Large paperwork grouping attributed to SS Hauptscharfuhrer Karl Poller consisting of replacement issue Soldbuch which has Uniform photograph to inside showing him wearing the SS issue M43 ski cap, SS Fuhrerschein book, pre war work book, Citations for Infantry assault badge in bronze, SS 4 year service medal, 1st October medal, bar for 1st October medal, 13th March medal and a whole folder full of paperwork relating to his immediate post war years.

The Soldbuch with the grouping although being a replacement issue is nicely filled out with many interesting entries. He was awarded various decorations including the 1st October medal, 13th March medal, Bar to 1st October, SS 4 year long service medal, War Merit Cross 2nd class, Russian Front medal, Iron Cross 2nd class and Infantry Assault badge in Bronze. The book remains in very good overall condition with the SS runes remaining clear on the book, so often these were scraped off as they did not want to be associated with the SS. The interesting part of the pay books is the pre war work book which lists him as working for the famous German weapons factory Alfred Nobel & Co. He would of surely been involved in dealing with armaments for his unit due to this pre war experience.

The citations with the grouping are also in good condition overall, sadly the ones for the Iron Cross and War Merit cross have become separated from the grouping. He is shown as rank of SS Rottenfuhrer on the medal citations and a SS Hauptscharfuhrer on the Infantry Assault Badge citation. The IAB citation shows him serving with 1./SS Wirtschafts - Btl 5 5 SS Panzer-Division “Wiking”. I have never before had the citation for the Prague bar (Spange) for the 1st October medal. The citations have been folded over the years so do have crease and fold marks and punch holes where they have been housed in the folder of documents.

The other documents with this grouping are mainly regarding his life after WW2 and it appears he did work in the US controlled areas of Germany. The documents date from 1946 up till the middle of the 1950’s. Overall this is a very interesting SS document group that would be worthy of more in depth research.

Price: £885.00
